About

Hi! I am Marvin and this is my blog about mostly technical topics (let’s see… 😊). I have previously blogged about bigger experiences of mine (now offline) like a research visit to the North Carolina State University (NCSU, USA) while I was a Ph.D. student at the Chair for Embedded Systems at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT, Germany). Katharina and I have also blogged together about our first years in Sweden 🇸🇪, our home since we moved here with our then 6 month old child in January 2020 (right before the pandemic really hit 😁). Today, we are a family of four living on the Swedish countryside (about an hour east of Gothenburg, right outside of Borås) and are feeling more Swedish by the day.

From 2020 to summer 2025, I was a researcher at the Dependable Transport Systems unit at RISE – Research Institutes of Sweden in Borås. I have worked with applied research in the context of EU regulations and industry standards on functional safety and cybersecurity. This often included prototyping of safety-critical systems (automotive, rail, mobile machinery, drones), and collaboration with industry stakeholders as well as multidisciplinary teams (more info here). During my time there I have learned a lot (starting with the Swedish language) and could develop myself very well professionally (as I am departing in the role of a Research Lead) as well as personally. As I am starting this blog, I have decided to work more closely with helping industry actors to manage EU and national regulations (NIS 2, EU Cyber Resilience Act, AI Act, …) including relevant standards in the role of a technical management consultant at a consultancy called Evidente Sweden AB in Gothenburg.

“Why blog?” you may ask. For me it is a great way to write to organize my thoughts during times of change (like moving to a new country or starting a new job). I like to share my knowledge and if this blog creates discussions and interactions, even better! 😊

All posts and thoughts on this blog are personal.
